Shine On Auto Detailing want to make sure you get the most from your detail, so each booking is tailored to satisfy your requests. To help give you an idea of what’s typically involved for the three most popular areas to address (Exterior, Interior and Engine) the information below sets out what would be covered as standard, along with a guide to how it’s charged.
New Car Detail.
Having just spent a lot of money on a brand new car, the Swissvax Paint Protection Programme is designed to help protect your investment and make it very easy to care for. The products are recognised and developed alongside major car manufacturers such as Bentley, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Mercedes Benz and Lamborghini. Your dealership might well offer a treatment, which seems convenient and probably makes bold claims about the length of time their products will last for, but it simply doesn’t represent value for money.
In reality, these claims never seem to hold any truth. Products are only as good as the preparation, and in most dealerships the valeters are given minimal time, poor products, and little training in how best to deal with your new pride and joy. This is key to why you should employ my services, and it can often still be done at the dealership prior to your collection – failing that it should be done as soon as possible afterwards.
All areas of your car receive attention. After making sure the paint is spotlessly clean, Swissvax Divine, the flagship wax product, is applied to the paintwork and left to cure. Your delicate alloy wheels are covered in Autobahn, a carnauba/PTFE hybrid product designed to reduce the build up of brake dust which corrodes the wheel surface, and make it easy to clean off. Inside, the carpets and mats are covered with Scotchguard Fabric Protectant, and leather upholstery is sealed to minimize dirt build up, and on light colour leather, dye transfer from clothes.
New Car Detail’s are available from £350.
Maintenance Detail.
Suitable for in between more intensive Detail treatments, as a top up. If you find your car isn’t drying as easily (the best sign the wax needs reapplying), or you’d like the car to have a really good clean and re-wax following a track day, or for a particular occasion, this service is ideal. Your car will be thoroughly cleaned inside and out and wax then reapplied to bodywork and wheels.
Maintenance Detail’s are available from £150, subject to an Enhancement or Correction Detail having being carried out previously, and availability will depend on location.
Enhancement Detail.
This is where you start to really see the difference a detail can offer, and is my most popular service. Offering benefits to almost any car, and Enhancement detail seeks to significantly improve the appearance of your car, without the time and cost associated in seeking to achieve perfect paint correction. This is popular for newly aquired used cars, refreshing the appearance of a presently owned car, and helping to present a vehicle in it’s best light for sale.
Following a thorough cleaning process that will cleanse and decontaminate your paintwork, modern advanced polishes are used via a rotary polishing machine to restore depth and gloss to your paint. In this process, light scratches and swirls marks will be removed or hugely improved, making the car look fresh and bright again. Particularly with dark colours, you might have started to notice it looking a little dull, the reflections in the paint just a bit flat – but with a carefully carried out Enhancement Detail, you’ll be amazed to see the lifeless paint restored to a lustrous, rich finish.
Once the polishing stage is completed, your paintwork will benefit from the protection of a fine Swissvax carnauba wax. The addition of a wax is vital to make ongoing cleaning easy. Bugs are much easier to remove in the summer, general dirt and grime is easy to remove all year round. Wax, compared to a synthetic sealant like Supaguard or Lifeshine, also offers better resistance to aggressive damage caused by bird bombs and the like, meaning your car stays looking better, for longer.
The wheels on your car receive special attention too, by way of Autobahn wheel wax, rubber and plastic trim and seals are treated with a protective dressing, and any bare metalwork is polished and sealed.
Your interior will be vacuumed, dusted and dressed. Further interior treatments such as carpet shampooing and a full grain leather clean are available, together with Engine Bay detailing. An Enhancement Detail will often be carried out in a day, so the areas you’d like to be improved most will be concentrated on – this can be discussed at the time of booking, and an appropriate amount of time booked for your vehicle’s needs.
An Enhancement Detail starts at £375, the price will ultimately depend on the vehicle and what is to be achieved. Please get in touch to discuss.
Correction Detail.
If you are looking for as close to perfection as possible, a Correction Detail is the only choice. Following the same initial cleansing stages as the Enhancement Detail, the paintwork is thoroughly inspected using a microscope and paint depth gauge to assess its condition, before being subjected to a multi-stage machine polishing process to safely remove every mark that can be, finally burnishing the paint to impart a brilliant gloss. This is a much slower process, and depending on the type of paint being worked upon, will often need a significantly more aggressive approach. The results of this process can be staggering, with seemingly ‘past it’ paintwork being revived to look better than when the car left the factory, but it is a process that should be carried out infrequently to protect the long term integrity of the paint. Both Maintenace and Enhancement Details are ideal as subsequent maintenance treatments in following months or years.
Typically this work will take 2 or more days to complete, with prices starting at £600.
In the case of an Enhancement or Correction Detail, the standard wax applied is Swissvax Mirage. Also available are upgrades to Best of Show, or the flagship product, Divine. The benefits to the upgraded waxes are typically seen as an improvement in the depth of gloss, more so on darker colours, but mainly the durability of the wax. In all cases, Swissvax have a signature finish that gives a very ‘wet look’, the car looking wet and glossy at all times. The applicable surcharge is as follow:

Travel.
Travel costs, if appropriate, will be included in any quote given, unless stated otherwise. Should the journey time be more than two hours in one direction, or if it is a 2 day booking, an overnight stay may be necessary, and chargable. Should this be the case, inexpensive accomodation would be found locally, and this would be investigated and discussed at the time of booking.

Making a booking.
A payment of £75 per day is required to secure your booking. This can be paid by bank transfer, or by cheque made payable to ‘Shine On’. In the instance of a cancellation made no later than 7 days before the appointment, a full refund will be offered. Within 7 days, no refund will be made, there are no exceptions to this. To re-book, a new payment will be required (if cancellation of booking took place within 7 days of appointment). If your booking is cancelled due to bad weather, I will endeavour to rebook you as a priority for another day convenient to yourself. If a satisfactory date cannot be found, I will refund your deposit in full.
Payment is to be made on the day the work is carried, without exception, unless previously agreed otherwise. I am happy to accept a cheque, or cash. Should you prefer to pay by bank transfer, payment in full will be required in advance.
